Faculty Member: Dallas Bentz, B.Ed., B.R.E.
Position: Instructor, Mathematics, University and College Entrance Program Dallas has taught mathematics with Edmonton Catholic Schools since 1974. For the past ten years, Dallas has worked as a Department Head and Math Teacher in Edmonton Catholic School's Out Reach Program. Dallas has also developed, coordinated and taught in an adult upgrading program for Edmonton Catholic Schools. Faculty Member: Robert L. Campbell, M.Ed.
Position: Sessional Instructor, Biology, University and College Entrance Program, and Continuing Education Teacher, Biology Rob Campbell has taught Biology with the UCEP program for 16 years. During the first 6 years he also taught computers. Prior to coming to Concordia Rob taught Biology, Chemisty, Physics and Computers at Alberta Vocational College Lesser Slave Lake. He also worked for Alberta Learning developing the Diploma Exams for Biology. Rob has spent much of his life involved in Lifesaving and Lifeguarding in Alberta and the Northwest Territories and presently is on the Board of Directors for the Royal Lifesaving Society. Rob is also is involved in Health research and has worked in such areas as Diabetes research and Research into the West Nile Virus. Faculty Member: Dr. Linda Kerr
Position: Assistant Visiting Professor; University of Alberta Dr. Kerr has taught concurrently at the University of Alberta (14 years), with the UCEP program at Concordia College (6 year) and with Athabasca University. She completed extensive historical research in London and Edinburgh for her masters degree. After receiving her Ph.D in history and publishing articles on Scottish and Imperial history, Dr. Kerr began teaching Scottish, British and Canadian history at the University of Alberta. One focus of her work is First Nations history and she has taught at Blue Quills and at Maskwatchees colleges for the University of Alberta and Athabasca University. She works as a tutor and subject expert for Athabasca University. Dr. Kerr was recently part of a collaborative project for Industry Canada to research the possibilities of accessing publicly owned archival material for courses. This project resulted in a $1.5 million dollar grant to Athabasca University to continue with this work. Faculty Member: Mary YS. Lau, B.Ed.
Position: Instructor (Chemistry, Science), University and College Entrance Program (UCEP) and Pre-UCEP Mary Lau has 13 years of teaching experience. She has been teaching Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Science and Mathematics for 9 years (Gr. 7-12); in UCEP (Chemistry)
since 1999 and in Pre-UCEP (Science) since 2002.
Position: Network Administrator and IT Instructor, Faculty of Professional and Continuing Education Dante Macasaet has 20 years of teaching experience, teaching both software and hardware courses in the areas of data communication, networking, computer systems organization, programming, and Microsoft Office productivity software. During the last
eleven years, Dante has been teaching computer courses in Concordias UCEP program and had also taught computer networking and web server courses in Concordia's Information Systems Security after-degree program (now a Masters program). His other responsibilities include, network administrator for the student lab for the Master of Information Systems Security Management program and is the first-tier technical support for the Faculty of Professional and Continuing Education. He also worked for Adamson University in Manila as a senior instructor in the Computer Engineering department and as a part-time systems analyst/programmer for the university. Prior to the completion of his masters degree in Computer Science, he took executive courses in Local Area Networking at De Paul University, Chicago, Illinois. Faculty Member: Jeanette Winsor, Master of Adult Education, BA
Position: Sessional Instructor, English, University and College Entrance Program Jeanette has been teaching literacy and English for over 25 years. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario and her Master of Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. As part of her Master’s program, Jeanette completed research on journal writing as a tool for enhancing critical thinking in a college classroom. Jeanette has worked with adult learners for most of her career. She worked with the Fisheries Union in Newfoundland and Labrador to set up Education Centers for displaced fishery workers. Jeanette also worked with St. John’s Junior College in Belize City for five years as an English and literature teacher. During this time, she was recognized as Department Chair for the English Department. Jeanette is a published writer and a former member of the Writers Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador. She enjoys reading, walking, and her newest hobby, painting.
